While attending Hamilton College in New York, Genovese spent a semester in France to attend art school. This experience, along with living in places far away from friends and family, such as Hawaii and Massachusetts, helped Genovese discover that her physical obstacles didn’t have to stand in the way of spiritual and emotional growth. She found that being different allowed her to find the commonalities that connected her to others.
Genovese’s personal journey through life’s grand rites of passage is applicable to anyone facing life’s obstacles. Her revelations provide guidance for standing tall in the world and living fearlessly. She realized that:
• The only thing that stood in the way of her dreams was her own disbelief.
